If neither we or my landlord has a copy of the lease is it still binding?

my boyfriend and i are leasing a house. it is very expensive and our relationship is on the rocks. i want out, he wants to stay and get roommates, i just want my name off the lease but i don't have a copy and when i asked my landlord for a copy he has never gotten one to me, after several attempts, he still has not gotten one to me, which leads me to believe he doesn't have his copy of the lease. how can i go about getting my name off the lease legally and having no repercussions?
